I have to confess, I enjoy my privacy. Web pages, blogging, tweeting, posting - all of these are kept at a comfortable minimum. You may ask, Why? Simple answer: sometimes I don't know that I have something significant to add.
So why do it now? A couple of reasons, the first being this is part of an assignment for a graduate school course to obtain a Master's degree in Information and Learning Technology from the University of Colorado Denver. The second reason is that, at long last, I finally feel like I have something to say.
I've been working as a graphic designer for 16 years and as an instructional designer. You'd think that I would look at my professional contributions and say "Well done!" Not so. Nine times out of ten I would look at my work and do nothing but see the flaws and criticize myself.
All that changed about six months ago when I finally found my professional voice. I began to notice in meetings at work that people would ask my opinion and actually listen to what I have to say. Imagine that. I started listening to the compliments I was receiving and I began to think "Maybe I do know what I'm talking about." Then came the self-realization that as good as I was starting to think I am, As I slowly came to realize that I do have skills to succeed as an L&D professional.
So, here I am world and I have something to say! Are you listening yet?
